Dream no small dreams, for they have no power to move the hearts of men

I almost went to bed early …

What a great game last night. Throughout the entire tournament I’ve said Memphis and its free throws were going to get them in trouble. And every game, being up by 20, it hasn’t made a difference. And I said early in the tournament, if a team can stay close to them, they can be beaten. I know that’s not incredible basketball insight, but it is a good lesson.

To win basketball games, you have to practice fundamentals. Fundamentals like free throws. And you make free throws by practicing free throws.

Congrats Kansas!

Next year … go Kentucky!

I married way out of my league. And I am aware of that every day. Kelly loves me, even the worst of me … like the “1st thing in the morning me”; and the “I hate being stuck in traffic me”; and she even loves the “but I only want to lay on the couch and watch TV me”. She’s my daily demonstration of grace – unmerited favor! I have three great kids – Nathan, Carissa, & Jordyn. They are the best parts of me – wow, thanks for that God, cause there weren’t a lot of good parts to work with! I’m the associate pastor @ HOPE Church. That’s my “day job”. At night … I’m the lead pastor @ Sojourn. I have the good fortune to share my life with the broken, the scallywags, and the marginalized; which works especially well because I am one of them. I love and lead a rag tag community of people who consistently demonstrate Deuteronomy 4:29 … “You will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul.” Sojourn is a community of Gen-Xers who have a desire to connect with those who have never gone to church – the “unchurched” and those who have given up on church – the “overchurched”.
