I’ve had this verse stuck in my head for the last few weeks.  Its one I’ve read before and quickly moved past.  But recently I’ve been challenged to notice the principle Jesus is teaching. The student does not become what the teacher is teaching, the student becomes like the teacher.  What a great leadership lesson and challenge.

What I teach is not nearly as important as how I live.

What does my life demonstrate?

What are those who follow me “becoming’?

I married way out of my league. And I am aware of that every day. Kelly loves me, even the worst of me … like the “1st thing in the morning me”; and the “I hate being stuck in traffic me”; and she even loves the “but I only want to lay on the couch and watch TV me”. I love and lead a rag tag community of people who consistently demonstrate Deuteronomy 4:29 … “You will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul.” Sojourn is a community of Gen-Xers who have a desire to connect with those who have never gone to church – the “unchurched” and those who have given up on church – the “overchurched”.
