re: Christmas

Christmas is not just a good story, but a necessary event. Christmas allows us to be “fully human”.

If Jesus isn’t afraid to be related to people like Tamar and Judah.

And if he isn’t afraid to befriend someone like Matthew.

Then Jesus can be “ok” with us too.

… the all embracing love of God is available to those furthest from God.

I married way out of my league. And I am aware of that every day. Kelly loves me, even the worst of me … like the “1st thing in the morning me”; and the “I hate being stuck in traffic me”; and she even loves the “but I only want to lay on the couch and watch TV me”. At night … I’m the lead pastor @ Sojourn. I have the good fortune to share my life with the broken, the scallywags, and the marginalized; which works especially well because I am one of them. I love and lead a rag tag community of people who consistently demonstrate Deuteronomy 4:29 … “You will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul.” Sojourn is a community of Gen-Xers who have a desire to connect with those who have never gone to church – the “unchurched” and those who have given up on church – the “overchurched”.
